Trey Benfield is a North Carolina native born in Shelby, NC. He graduated from Winthrop University, double majoring in Business Administration and Biology. From there he went to the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Optometry and graduated in 2004 with a Doctor of Optometry. After graduation, Dr. Benfield completed a residency in ocular disease and pathology at the Tuscaloosa Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
After working in western Alabama, Dr. Benfield was convinced he wanted to practice in a rural setting. When a job opportunity opened with Patty Vision Center he found a perfect fit in Yanceyville, NC. Dr. Benfield has worked with Patty Vision Center, since 2005 and has thoroughly enjoyed providing eye care for Caswell County and Alamance County. He also enjoys going on mission trips and has traveled to Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, and Mexico with the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists.
Dr. Benfield has been married for 15 years to his beautiful wife Tamzen, and they both enjoy raising their sons Miles and Blake. He is an elder and occasional preacher at Resurrection Church in Hillsborough, NC. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and reading history, theology, and literature.
